History

Noerg is an organism dedicated to electronic music promotion, initially founded in 2003 with the declared objective of upgrading the Montreal scene’s quality standards. Noerg quickly established its name in the local jungle of promoters by pushing forward a sound situated at the audio crossroad touching electro, minimal and more melodic tendancies, bringing to Montreal several international artists renowned for the top-notch level of their productions. Quickly, the name ‘’Noerg’’ became intimately linked with a reputation of quality, related to both practical organizational dimension of Noerg events and good, avant-gardiste artist selection that were setting fire to the attending crowds.

That reputation then led to dozens of successful events throughout the years, including some smashing moments with out-of-the-ordinary international acts such as Extrawelt, Dusty Kid, Robert Babicz, Tony Rohr, Beckers or the Toronto-based duo Metalogic, who all performed in Noerg events. Noerg is also a spotlight for a very diversified alloy of local talent to emerge: Soundshaper, Olivier Saint-Germain, Tenzin, Tapwatr, Philgood, Lucie Lebel, Jeff Fontaine and Snork, to name a few, are also remarked during Noerg events throughout the years.

In 2006, after three years of experiences and tribulations, Noerg launches its main series of events, Microtek, with a 3 editions/year frame, including one all-nighter. The Microtek events instantly become a standard in Montreal’s nightlife for electronic music amateurs. These nights are not only the stage for the international act brought forward by the collective, but are also the ground witnessing the full blossoming of the local talent that melts the dancefloor event after event.

In 2007, Noerg operates a vital structural evolution, inverting its priorities to get to its actual form of a Montreal-based collective with a mission to find, develop and support the very important local talent in all of its forms. Noerg innovates notably by recognizing the importance of the visual aspect of its productions, opening its doors to resident VJs who take care of giving the Noerg events a kaleidoscopic and premium-grade visual aspect going along with the undeniable talent of the producers and DJs who quickly joined the project. Noerg now uses its rock-solid name and reputation to offer a strong spotlight to the local talent, in order to help the local scene to get widely remarked and pursue its evolution in higher spheres.
